Does anyone know if the 100k needed is just for boiler work only, or is this for mechanical overhaul as well?

The appeal link in a previous post makes it clear that the £100k is for boiler work alone. That amount doesn't buy you a lot of boiler work, which typically requires work by coded welders charging commercial rates.

Hi all,
Does anyone know what the latest is 35005 Canadian Pacific? Is she still at Knights in Eastleigh?
Thanks
Andy

I hope to be involved with this project soon. Travelling up from Portsmouth means I only get to help once or twice a month which is a shame

I have started helping out on the project (once every two weeks at the moment only time the missus gives me permission for). I started this Monday and the guys are really nice and know what they are doing. I am completely new to this all and they are helping get to know things as they said everyone's got to start somewhere.

I also found this photo by Carl's Railway Photos (http://www.carlswatson.com/trains.html) which shows her at the works.

I can confirm all her boiler cladding is now off and they are removing pipes ready for the boiler inspection by the guys from Ropley.

I am writing a series of blogs on locoyard.com which is basically a diary of my experiences getting involved working on 35005 Canadian Pacific. The latest entry was posted on 16-10-13 ( click here ) and does show some of the work that has been done on her. I dont know enough information to give an overall status of the restoration but just want I did.

My fourth diary entry went live today and does show the progress made on 35005. Work on Canadian Pacific is going at a good pace and we might even say we are ahead of schedule at this point (that's just cursed the project). Anyway check it out and let me know what you think.

Should point we arent actually restoring her at the moment but stripping her down and inspecting her to see what condition she is in.

Cheers

Simon

If you work or volunteer in the railway heritage world we would love to hear you from you. The variety of volunteers is mind-boggling from cleaners to drivers, wagon crew to carriage carpenters, working on miniature railways to mainline express locomotives, from the UK around the globe to Australia – the world of railway preservation is huge and we would like to like to hear from any of you who would like to share your experiences! Support is at hand if you need it, from discussing content to proof reading and it’s all done for free!

Of course paired with Sister Engine 35006 from the GWSR!  Very Happy

Hey everyone Andy has already done a post but thought I would do one as well.

CanPac has hit a major milestone in her inspection and stripping down which is all down to the brilliant team that are working on her. We still have a way to go in the dismantling process but we along way to before we can start any actual restoration work which will only begin once we get the funds in place.

The Midhants have updated their website showing a few pictures of the Boiler lift etc....
I would assume that the Boiler is going to Ropley to be worked on along with the cab?
Here is the Link;

Cheers
