Yes, though that's dependant on the level of financial and volunteer support. There's still a lot of work required on the boiler. http://southernlocomotivesltdphotogallery.fotopic.net/p65372179.html Anyone who wants to help please get in touch.

Yes plenty of progress being made, as seen in the latest photos:

http://southernlocomotivesltdphotogallery.fotopic.net/c1810228.html

However £38,000 is needed to buy tubes, flues and elements, so they have launched a "Sponsor a Tube" scheme.

Some interesting news on the developments of SKP on Southern Locomotives Ltd website. Quote from the website "Progress continues on all fronts; The windows and coal spray for the new tender are being made, the tank has been cleaned and it all has at least one external coat of paint. The cab and loco fittings are being assembled. The new rear tubeplate has been suspended in the firebox, and will be moved into position during March. Work on the new boiler stays and boiler fittings continues."

Excellent news. I have a question regarding Bulleid boilers which I shall put elsewhere though..

Update on SLL's website here; shows the Smokebox Barrel has been fitted.

Does anyone know when the boiler is expected to be lifted onto the frames? Good progress being made with SKP's Tender.

There are some more updates on the SLL website:

http://www.southern-locomotives.co.uk/News/news.html

The tender has moved out of the workshop, complete except for lining.

No firm date for the boiler to go on the loco, but I think we're talking weeks rather than months.

I've splashed out on a copy of the Mirror and the print version includes a small photo of the man along with the text. If you'd like some photos of SKP, man and machine, look no further: https://picasaweb.google.com/116839141471298057728

Very Happy

In the Latest News section on the SVR website it states that an agreement has been reached with SLL to run-in the loco and test and that she will remain at the line for the remainder of 2012. She is expected to be moved at the end of April.

A recent update showing SKP near to completion; http://www.southern-locomotives.co.uk/News/news.html

Hopefully Nick can say what else needs doing before her departure in a weeks time?
I hope you will all agree that she looks good - I have to say that it is a huge shame the loco isn't remaining at the railway.

Nothing major left to do, but there's still quite a long list of small jobs. Yesterday I was securing the panel between the smokebox and the void beneath it which provides access to the inside cylinder, likewise the front access panels and the battery box lid, splitting some "split pins", driving in the pins that hold the brake blocks in place, helping to position the spark arrester, bolting down the small access cover just behind the chimney (external access to the superheater header), etc.

It was Swanage Railway's decision to pass on SKP; they only need two Bulleids and wanted to hang on to Eddystone and Manston. I think SKP will be a big attraction on the SVR.
