Just read this from a user from this Video on youtube:



Is this true?

Quote "dvdhttn Very very good archive Pt1 & Pt2. I was a fireman from 1954-1969. It was a shame to see the bad condition of the engines toward the end of steam. With the poor coal the fireman got the blame for the poor steaming of the loco`s, until the "Inspectors" rode the footplate with us and then could see the problems we had. The "Brickets" used instead of pure coal was the trouble and the poor servicing of the loco`s.  At the end of a trip your eyes were red raw due to the chemicals in the brickets. "Quote"
