Post by 35005CP on Sun Feb 13, 2011 7:36 am

Hi all,

Does anyone have any good photography spots they can share with me for taking photo's of steam around East Sussex? It would be really appreciative.

I took some of 44932 at Stonegate station today on the Sussex Belle. http://andysteamgallery.fotopic.net/p69016767.html

Enjoy

And many thanks

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to exactly get to the foot crossing at Stonegate station in Sussex (Along the hastings line) Please. It appears that the station is in view in this video taken from Platform 2 side (Heading towards Hastings)

I will also try Snape Wood in future around Wadhurst. (As there is the mainline bridge there) I just need to find a great spot.

Many Thanks.

I have been given this information; "From memory from the station car park, walk up to the car park entrance on the main road, turn left and cross the bridge over the railway. Immediately on the right there is a footpath which runs parallel to the line and goes past an old bridge on your right. The foot crossing is the about 300 yards on the right. Altogether about 15 mins walk from the station. Last time I was there was during the last year of the Hastings Diesels but hopefully it won't have changed."
From this Information, this would make the view point from the other side of the foot crossing, wouldn't it?

Also been given this other piece of Information for photo spots;

"I guess its still operational as its a public footpath. There are more spots further up the bank near to Snape Wood. See attached OS Map extract, spots marked in red. Not much foliage on trees this time of year. The shot from the bridge (park by the side of the bridge) is a bit head on and the line is straight here. Further up park on west side of line and walk (clamber?) to line."

Also here is the O/S Map attached;

Does anyone have any good spots around Wadhurst and Stonegate other than which I have posted?

I have found Churchsettle Lane in Wadhurst. Postcode is TN5 6NH. Does anyone know if this is a good vantage point?
Brinkers Lane (Nr Snape) is possibly another vantage point to photograph Mainline Steam?
